Poker has been around a lot longer than the Internet and so playing poker from your computer rather
than traditional live game is still rather new. But online poker has given players new options and comes with some benefits over the live game let’s have a look
The math plays
Understanding the odds is an important part of becoming a successful online poker player. It helps you determine when you’re likely to be ahead in the hand and whether it’s worth continuing to put your money into a pot. For new players, the fastest way to accelerate their success is to learn the math of the game. In live games, the math is often blurred by ‘reads’, insight to an opponent’s actions based on their behavior at the table. In online poker, reads seldom come into play, so understanding the math becomes a larger part of the game. Read the rest of this entry »

You’ve seen some poker on TV and it looks easy. You shove your chips in the middle, then wait for Mike Sexton or Norman Chad to hand you a million dollars in cash. After that extensive preparation, you sit down at your computer to play some online poker for the first time and, surprise surprise, the game isn’t quite as easy as it looks on TV. Instead of winning the million dollars, you lose your ass. Welcome to online poker. With very few exceptions, novice online poker players are losing online poker players. Most of the sportbook focus this weekend will be on the Belmont Stakes betting and the French Open Finals odds but there will also be plenty of good baseball action. Let’s take a look at what the National League West will be up to.
San Francisco Giants @ Florida Marlins
Don’t look now but the San Francisco Giants are a respectable team. Don’t look now, but the Florida Marlins are not.
The Giants started the season 3-8 but are 22-17 since. Meanwhile, the Marlins started the season 11-1 but are 14-28 since.
San Francisco has played much better at home (18-9) than on the road (7-16) but the same is the case for the Marlins, who don’t take advantage of their home field.
The Marlins will face Barry Zito, Jonathan Sanchez and Tim Lincecum in this series. The Marlines should be able to capitalize on the two lefties they face as they are 12-6 against left-handed starters this season. Read the rest of this entry »

I was interviewed for a major men’s magazine last year but the editors decided internet gambling was a little too hot button so the entire piece was scrapped, well not the entire piece the editors allowed the portions involving the Las Vegas sportsbooks. Let’s hope the climate changes for the positive in the next year or so for the Online Sportsbook community. So I decided if the magazine wouldn’t run the interview I figured I might as well. I won’t name the magazine but I will give its initials, GQ.
Have a read.
Q: The first questions I have are regarding what I call “The Best Moments in Sports Betting History (if not necessarily in Sports History).” For instance, the most famous example is Chris Duhon’s shot against Uconn in the 2004 NCAA tournament when he nailed a thirty-eight foot three pointer at the buzzer to bring the score to 79-78. Duke didn’t win but, with that last shot, they did cover. Do you remember this game?
If so, what was your reaction?

MLB Betting – Plenty Of Fireworks To Be Expected In Yankees, Rangers Series

It might be hard to believe that Rachel Alexandra won’t be factoring in the Belmont Stakes odds this weekend, but that’s just as hard to believe as the fact that the Texas Rangers are in first place in the American League West.
No handicappers, betting software or pundits could have predicted that the Rangers would be as good as they, especially not after how they’ve played over the last decade or so.
The Rangers are 10 games above .500 at 30-20 and actually have a better record than the visiting New York Yankees (30-21).
Interestingly enough, the team has been able to win 30 of its first 50 games without All-Star Josh Hamilton for most of the season. Hamilton has just 125 at-bats this season and has already spent some time on the disabled list with a strained ribcage. Read the rest of this entry »
