This week two Detroit-area “Business” men were charged with paying and giving gifts to basketball and football players at the University of Toledo to take part in a point-shaving scheme, according to a federal indictment filed Wednesday.

Three former football players and three former basketball players also were accused of taking part in the alleged scheme by either affecting the outcomes in games or giving the two businessmen information to place wagers. Read more

barney-frankRepresentative Barney Frank announced that on Wednesday he will unveil legislation to repeal the oppressive Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). The UIGEA was tacked on to the Safe Ports Act that was passed in 2006. The UIGEA didn’t make gambling illegal but rather it targeted banks who were doing business with the Internet companies. Attaching the bill to the port Security bill guaranteed the passage as no politician wanted to appear soft on national security. Read more

The Atlanta Hawks won their first playoff series in ten years by crushing the Heat in game 7 of their opening round series.  Joe Johnson was unconcious and this dagger 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter cut the Heat’s Heart out. Read more

There are a lot of rules when it comes to naming a horse for example no obscenities, you can’t repeat the name of a Triple Crown or Breeders Cup Champion and if a horse is in the hall of fame horse his name is off limits so that forces horse owners to be creative.

I’ve scoured the Internet; I’ve called some of the oldest horse handicappers I know looking for the best, the coolest, the most suggestive and downright questionable names we could come up with. Read more
